- Educators and staff will take precautions to reduce the occurrence of incidences, accidents, injuries and trauma to all stakeholders. They will identify, recognise and reflect on potential dangers, supervise and respond to these effectively to minimise risks.
- Educators and staff will role-model best practice and provide opportunities within the educational learning programme for children to take increasing responsibility for their own health and physical well-being, building their knowledge and increasing their independence and competence in personal hygiene, care and safety for themselves and others.
- Educators and staff will ensure that a parent or guardian is notified as soon as practicable but not later than 24 hours after the occurrence, if the child is involved in any incident, injury, trauma, illness and death while the child is being educated and cared for by the service.
- For any serious incident, an online notification is submitted to the Regulatory Authority within 24 hours of the occurrence.
- The National Regulations require that an accurate incident, injury, trauma and illness record be kept and stored confidentially until the child is 25 years of age. For the case of a child's death, the related record will be kept and stored confidentially for a period of 7 years after the occurrence of the incident.
